Joanna Janik, adiunkt w Instytucie Filologii Klasycznej UJ, filologii klasyczny, hellenista, zajmuje się rozwojem pojęć etycznych w greckiej epice archaicznej oraz prozą grecką, głownie okresu klasycznego. Jednym z głównych tematów badawczych J. Janik pozostaje twórczość Izokratesa w kontekście rozwoju retoryki i koncepcji politycznych IV w. p.n.e.
J. Janik jest autorką przekładu monografii J. N. Adamsa, “The Latin Sexual Vocabulary” wraz z zawartymi w niej w wersjach oryginalnych przykładami z literatury greckiej i łacińskiej (nie tłumaczonymi przez autora). Opracowanie ukazało się w 2013 roku pod polskim tytułem „Seksualizmy łacińskie”. W ramach projektu pod kierownictwem prof. Sylwestra Dworackiego przetłumaczyła XV księgę „Bibilioteki” Diodora Sycylijskiego.
